The Focal 165 AS split car speaker package includes two 16.5 cm diameter mid-bass drivers, two inverted dome tweeters and two passive filters.
The subwoofer, or automotive subwoofer, is the largest. Dedicated exclusively to low frequencies, it is most often installed in the trunk of the vehicle. It can be mounted horizontally, with the membrane facing upwards, or vertically, with the membrane facing the front of the vehicle. Like the subwoofers used in hi-fi and home theater systems, the load can be closed or bass-reflex. Some brands offer ultra-flat automotive subwoofers that slide under the seat, which makes it easier to integrate and frees up space in the vehicle’s trunk.

How to connect car speakers? For car speakers, a 1.5mm² cable is usually sufficient. For high-quality car speakers and split kits, it is recommended to invest in a good quality car sound cable, with effective shielding and high cross-section pure copper (OFC) conductors. You might even consider a silver-plated speaker cable, particularly suitable for wiring tweeters, as the higher frequencies travel across the surface of the cable and silver is an excellent conductor.
